“We're sorry to announce that the Grateful Dead sellouts scheduled for Dec. 18, 19, & 20 have been postponed until February. The Dead's management accepted the gig without telling the band. The band feels they cannot return east until they have new music for the people. The Capitol has the option to take legal action or to reschedule their appearance. Because of our friendship with the Dead and our respect for their musical integrity, we have agreed to present the Grateful Dead on February 18, 19, 20 & 21. All tickets in your possession will be honored for the new dates. Again, our apologies.”
